Some flippin’ sweet activities October 29, 2009

October has been filled with many great events including Farm Olympics, Mod Family Feud and the first ever Haunted Arboretum. Farm Olympics was an evening of chicken races, relay races, hay stacking, a cookout, hayrides, s’mores and live music. We were blessed with possibly the most perfect fall day to be outside.
The next weekend was the Corn Maze and Family Feud. Luckily, we didn’t lose anyone in the maze so they were able to come back and participate in Mod Family Feud. Laura Gehman and Levent Miller’s mods won the event making them the brother/sister mod most connected with 100 people who do nothing but take surveys.
Haunted Arboretum was a new event for CAB this year, but we think it is safe to say it will continue for years to come. Students and staff alike enjoyed some frightful snacks before they ventured out around the arboretum. As they made their way dodging giant bats, old ladies, and mysterious tricycles, they learned about some HC ghost stories and heard our own Lael Ewy and President Howard Keim re-telling Edgar Allan Poe classics. For those not brave enough for the trail, we also had a pumpkin carving contest that brought out some very talented artists.
All of these activities have had positive reviews from students and were a lot of fun to plan and do. Check back soon for some more pictures and updates from our flippin’ sweet activities.

Clubs and More October 14, 2009

It is the day before Fall Break and it’s about time we catch you up on the rest of the semester. CAB has sponsored more than 15 activities ranging from campus-wide games to Farm Olympics. We are also excited about the numerous clubs and groups that are active on our campus. Sign-ups were held for the following clubs: Ping-Pong, Cycling, Running, Motorcycle, Ham Radio, Golf, Racquetball, Grilling, Baking, Knitting, Swing and Ultimate. Also we had representation for hymn sings, Peace & Service, Students for Responsible Citizenship, M2 (prison ministries) and discussion group.

It’s great to see so much involvement as well as opportunity for a campus our size. This truly gives students to learn about many different activities as well as have the opportunity to impact the communities and world around them.

We’re looking forward to a relaxing Fall Break and will kick off the rest of the semester’s activities with a round-robin Ultimate Tournament with Bethel and Tabor.
