September 12 was our first night at the Perk. This event always seems to be a favorite among students because it is a night filled with drink specials, live music, good friends, and s’mores (“S’more of what? I just got here, how can I have some more of nothing?”) It was a perfect evening to just hangout and relax by a fire, and listen to some great music provide by some of our extremely talented students.

Due to some scheduling conflicts, CAB rescheduled the weekend and sponsored Campus-Wide Capture-the-Flag.  We had an amazing turnout of about 100 students.  We split the campus into three sections which made for all sorts of fun.

It’s great to see such good turnouts for the on-campus activities.  The students seemed to have a great time, even with the gorilla on the loose.

Here we go again! September 2, 2009

We have kicked off a new year here at Hesston College, a year in which we will be celebrating our 100 years of Christian education on the prairie lands of Kansas. Not only is this a big year because of our centennial celebration, but also because the Campus Activities Board has planned a stellar year of activities. The year kicked off with our annual tradition of Mod Olympics. With about 350 participants, it was a huge success ending with the Hesston FD hosing down the student body with their tanker truck.

Since the start of school, only 9 days ago, we have already had four campus activities which have all been well attended.  Quite possibly one of the most exciting activities was Bunco on Friday night in which we had 184 in attendance.  It is exciting to see our students interacting and getting involved early on in the year and we hope to continue with this type of excitement.

In the coming days we will be having the “Most Spirited Mod” at the first home volleyball games of the year, a pie-eating contest at the men’s soccer home opener and Saturday we will be playing campus-wide capture-the-flag.  And I almost forgot to mention that we will be having a Club Sign-up time on Monday, the 7th, for students to be involved in various ways on campus.

Make sure to check back on a regular basis to see what activities we have done as well as check out the photos of the activities to see who you might recognize.
